Budja Board and Management are very pleased with the recent announcement from the Victorian Government Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, The Hon. Natalie Hutchins MP, of a $1 million grant to expand and extend our clinic.
Our clinic is the only primary health care service in Halls Gap and offers bulk billed GP services, nurse-based and allied health services Tuesday to Friday. Our service is very much appreciated by all and attracts patients from Stawell, Ararat, local Gariwerd and surrounding population and tourists.
The funding will provide a more contemporary clinic layout. It will have two GP consultation rooms, two treatment rooms, staff offices, increased patient waiting area and with ambulance and disabled patient access. The existing 80 year old clinic house will also be upgraded so that Budja can continue to provide quality and expanded services to all our 450 Indigenous Community, residents across Ararat Rural City and Northern Grampians Shire and the over one million visitors to Gariwerd National Park.
The new clinic extension is expected to open now in December 2019. All clinical services will continue during the extension building program. When open, Budja expects to offer services to 5 days a week, with extended hours, and the possibility of having two GPs on site at times.
