Tim Chatfield

Tim is a Djab Wurrung Elder and has lived on country for all his life. He is a founder of Budja Budja Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd, which commenced operations in March 1999, achieving the significant milestone of 25 years in operation in 2024. Tim’s vision from the start was to provide an organisation that will improve the lives of the Aboriginal Community across Northern Grampians Shire and Ararat Rural City, with emphasis on making sustainable change particularly across health, housing and culture and social and emotional wellbeing.
The emphasis has always been on ensuring delivery a culturally safe environment and services to members, in a holistic manner, driven by a team of dedicated and highly skilled and experienced professionals. He has been a member on various Boards, including Chair and Deputy Chair of Cultural Heritage Victoria, Aboriginal Housing Victoria and First Super.
Tim was also a member of the Victorian Premier’s Aboriginal Consultative Committee. He is currently a Commissioner with the Victorian Environmental Water Holder.
Since 2017 Tim has overseen the significant extensions at the Halls Gap Clinic, the acquisition of a purpose built and designed Mobile Health Clinic to provide outreach services to our rural/remote community, the opening of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre at Halls Gap in August 2023 and the opening of BBAC’s second medical clinic at Ararat in November 2023.
Tim has a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Diploma in Management and a Trustee Directors qualification from the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees.

Tim is a founder of Budja Budja and an Elder of  the local Djab Wurrung Community. He has overall responsibility for all Co-operative and Clinical Programs and activities, as well as Executive Management Duties and all staffing and organisational governance issues.
