Nga Keenatt - Welcome to the heartwarming Djab Wurrung Community
Our Community
Step into the world of Budja Budja Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd., where community, culture, and care blend health and well-being. Founded in 1999 by the visionary Tim Chatfield, this organisation stands to support both the Indigenous and non-Indigenous inhabitants of Halls Gap and its surrounding areas.
Nestled within Gariwerd/Grampians National Park, we are more than just a clinic; we are a lifeline for those seeking holistic healthcare rooted in culture. From primary medical services to nurturing community health programs, people who walk through our doors are cared for, respected, and embraced.
What makes us stand out is our unwavering commitment to creating an environment that is not just inclusive but also safe for all. Expect a team of dedicated professionals, including compassionate and supportive staff, registered nurses, and GPs working tirelessly to satisfy individual needs.
With strategic partnerships with mainstream health providers, Budja Budja’s reach extends far beyond its physical walls. As an organisation, we deliver vital outreach services, ensuring that no one in the community is left behind.
Our Facilities
In 2014, the community saw a new milestone with opening the first permanent pharmacy in Halls Gap, proof of Budja Budja’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility to essential services.
As the demand for our community services continues to soar, Budja Budja anticipates touching the lives of over 11,000 individuals this year alone amidst bustling activity, tourists and visitors to Gariwerd.
Let us give you a warm welcome, making up a significant portion of our clinic’s clientele by playing the role of a healthcare hub for the wider community.
Budja Budja is not just a healthcare provider; it is a nurturing place, a source of hope, and a testimonial to the power of community-driven care.

GP consultations are available Tuesday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Due to the high demand, please ensure to book consultations in advance.
Services are not directly available at Budja but are made available through our referrals and mainstream health partners in Stawell and Ararat.
Budja is expected to record increasing individual patient contacts and services provided to Indigenous and non-Indigenous patients across all our health, medical services, and other programs.
All tourists and visitors to Gariwerd are always welcome, accounting for a portion of our annual patient consultations.
